The Pietermaritzburg & District Community Chest hosted its 64th Annual General Meeting on Thursday 22nd August 2024 at Golden Horse Casino (Ascot Room). Over seventy (70) donor representatives, were in attendance. A Top Donor Awards Ceremony followed after the AGM. Attendees were enlightened on the rationale for, the financial standing of and the operations of the Community Chest through reports presented by Chairperson Mrs Primi Chetty, Treasurer Mr Johan Riekert and Executive Director, Mr Richard Rangiah respectively.
The Top Donor Awards Ceremony recognised the Community Chest’s Top 10 Corporates, Workplace-Giving sites, Private individuals and Trusts/Foundations. In addition, special recognition awards were presented to companies and individuals who supported Community Chest throughout the 2023/24 financial year. A Lifetime Service Award was presented Mr Kay Makan for his invaluable contribution to Community Chest. The prestigious 2024 John Hall Extra Mile award went to Mr Jasveer Morar for his exceptional support towards the work of the Community Chest.
The Community Chest extends its appreciation to all businesses, individuals and volunteers who support the work of Community Chest. It is only through such continued support and love for the Community Chest that 64 years later its stands on a strong foundation to enhance communities and restore hope to all those in need. For the new 2024/25 financial year, the Community Chest has pledged to support 91 different Community Impact Partners (CIPs) to a total value of R5.1 million in funds and/or donations-in-kind.
