Inspiring Growth, Gratitude, and Achievement

Writer's picture: TracyTracy

This edition of Business Sense focuses on celebrating success — a practice essential for personal and organisational growth. Celebrating achievements fosters motivation, boosts morale, and reinforces positive behaviour. Recognising accomplishments, whether big or small, validates the hard work and dedication invested, while providing a sense of fulfilment.

Business Sense V10.6 ft Amanda Swana

In the workplace, celebrating success enhances team cohesion by encouraging camaraderie and collaboration. Acknowledging milestones inspires employees to take pride in their contributions, leading to increased productivity and innovation. Recognition also sets a benchmark for others, motivating them to strive for excellence and align their efforts with organisational goals.

On a personal level, celebrating achievements reinforces self-confidence and resilience. It reminds individuals of their capabilities, empowering them to face future challenges with optimism.

Moreover, success stories can uplift and inspire others, spreading positivity within communities. These stories demonstrate what is possible while offering opportunities to reflect on lessons learned, fostering continuous improvement.

This issue highlights several remarkable success stories:

  • Amanda Swana, Chief Executive Officer of Powerpoint Lifestyles, is featured on the front page and in the article on page three.

  • Shakila Maharaj, founder of ShazaCin Accessible Media, is profiled on page two for her efforts in enabling accessibility for visually impaired individuals.

  • Farah Goolam from Invest Durban is spotlighted on page six.

We also congratulate Cox Yeats Attorneys on the inclusion of many of their lawyers in the 2025 edition of The Best Lawyers in South Africa™. See page seven for more details.

The glamorous grand finale of the annual KZN Top Business Women initiative, celebrating successful women, took place in November. Find coverage on pages eight and nine. The KZN Top Business Leaders Portfolio, a highlight of the year for KZN Top Business, celebrated numerous leaders in the province alongside the launch of the IBV Privé Lounge. See page ten.

The Minara Chamber of Commerce recognised outstanding businesses and individuals at its annual gala dinner, while the iLembe Chamber announced the winners of its Entrepreneur competition. See page fourteen for more.

Ultimately, celebrating success is about more than the moment; it cultivates a mindset of growth, gratitude, and determination.

Both Professor Theuns Pelser and Jacquie Bhana share reflections on their 2024 achievements and their aspirations for 2025 on pages twelve and thirteen.

As the festive season approaches, we wish you well and look forward to achieving and celebrating new milestones of success in 2025.
